Hi, I go by the name Nick, 19 and a TESLian. Been blogging since 2010. Thank you for stopping by, feel free to leave me a message. *click the arrow below*
Well, hello! I haven't had any chance to say this, so Happy New Year! We are on the 4th day of Feb though. Yes, time flies so fast now. Ever since I got my freedom, I have been spending my time watching movies to be honest since most of the time, I am alone in my house. I can say that I prefer it this way, though sometimes I will feel a bit lonely (can't help it, we are humans anyway). Alright, now let's talk about all the movies that I have watched for the past months!

*You are to read this with an awareness of spoilers*

Oculus

Summary: The twenty-one year-old Timothy "Tim" Allen Russell is discharged from a mental institution by his psychiatric Dr. Shawn Graham completely healed from a childhood trauma where his father purportedly tortured and killed his mother before being killed himself by Tim. His sister Kaylie welcomes him in the parking area and brings him home. Then she tells that they need to destroy an ancient mirror that she has found through working at an auction house. She then steals the mirror and the reluctant Tim follows his sister and has fragmented recollections from their childhood, going back to when his father Alan buys a mirror for the home office of their new family home. Kaylie and Tim see a woman with their father in his office and the behaviors of Alan and Marie change, ending in a family tragedy. Kaylie blames the mirror and now she wants to destroy it with Tim. Will they succeed?

You know that I would go for horror movies first since I am a really big fan of it. Oculus's trailer really makes you want to watch the movie and honestly, the storyline is nice, but I guess you cannot expect much from horror movies these days. The ending will make you feel very frustrated and Oculus is just like that, or maybe there will be a season 2? Who knows. Anway, the way the heroin and her brother tried to solve the mystery was very interesting! So if you still want to give it a try, go for it! It is not that bad, but you won't be satisfied with the ending.

Ouija

Summary: A girl is mysteriously killed after recording herself playing with an ancient Ouija Board, which leads to a close group of friends to investigate this board. They later find out that some things aren't meant to be played with, especially the 'other side'.

Ouija was great! Don't worry, I suggest you guys to watch this movie. I liked it so much. I liked everything about this movie. I have to admit that Ouija can be one of my top ten horror movies to watch! And oh, Nash Grier made a parody though, and it was really funny. You gotta check out his video too.

Annabelle

Summary: A husband and a wife are happily married and expecting a child. Mia (the wife) has to stay at home until the baby is delivered. Then, one night, when her husband came home from work, he brought home a present for his miserable wife. He brought home a doll named Annabelle, for her collection. Little do they know, the doll is possesed and is now a sinister presence lurking around their home.

I remember that when I found out about this movie and saw the trailer, I promised myself to watch it. It's related to the Conjuring anyway! Though when I saw the trailer, I really did not want to expect much since it was all about blood and murdering people. And I was right, the Conjuring was 10 times better than this movie. But, I suggest that you should check out this movie too if you are curious. Thought I have to admit that the Conjuring was the best horror movie I have watched so far. It haunted you for days after you watched it, no kidding.

The Babadook

Summary: The widow Amelia lost her husband in a car accident while driving her to the hospital to give birth to their son Samuel. She has quited writing books for children and presently works at a nursing home to raise Samuel alone. However the boy is problematic and outcast by his friends and even by his aunt Claire and his cousin Ruby. Amelia usually reads books for Samuel before sleeping and one night he gives the mysterious book Mister Babadook that he has found in his room. Amelia and Samuel are disturbed by the book that tells the story of a supernatural entity that torments people and Samuel tells that Babadook is haunting him during the night. Amelia rips up the book and throws it in the garbage, but soon they are haunted by Babadook. Amelia uses pills and Samuel and she are able to sleep during the night. When the book Mister Babadook appears mended in her front door, weird events happen in the house. Does Mr. Babadook really exist?

I know that I should not talk about this movie but at the same time I think everyone needs to know what I have to say about it. Honestly speaking, I didn't know that The Babadook will disappoint me this much. Really, I thought it would be a great movie, but the ending is very disappointing. Trust me, do not even waste your time to watch this movie. But I tried it since I kind of have an interest over kids and their drawings. And because of the fact that I really like home-families and their gloomy atmosphere, the dark atmosphere in horror movies.

As Above, So Below

Summary: When a team of explorers ventures into the catacombs that lie beneath the streets of Paris, they uncover the dark secret that lies within this city of the dead.

This movie will leave you breatheless after watching it, trust me. In my opinion, it was a great movie! Since I am into these kind of footages filming. Some might not like it, maybe because footages filming contain a lot of unclear videos and shaky hands of people filming it, but that what makes it real! I really like those movies where young people/teenagers/students will do an experiment about creepy and interesting stuff. Though the ending is just like that, but they were able to escape that scary place. I remember getting all nervous and i just couldn't stop moving on my chair! It was so intense!

Devil's Due

Summary: The orphan Samantha gets married with Zach McCall and they travel in honeymoon to Santo Domingo. In their last night in the Dominican Republic, the newlywed couple is invited by a taxi driver to go to a party in the outskirts of Santo Domingo. They drink too much and do not see that Sam is brought to a weird cult. They return to the United States and soon Sam discovers that she is pregnant. Along the pregnancy, Sam changes her behavior and becomes nervous and aggressive. On the night of the delivery, Zach witnesses weird events at home.

Devil's Due used the same way of filming just like As Above, So Below, the footages filming. My kind of movie! I really like this movie, it is a bit sad to be honest. And honestly, I really like it how the characters tried to solve the mystery using the symbols. I have a thing for weird and creepy symbols by the way, and this movie makes it more interesting once I found out about the meaning of the symbols. You should check this out!

Hwayi: A Monster Boy

Summary: A group of criminals kidnap a young boy. Not knowing what to do with him, they eventually decide to call him Hwayi and raise him. As one could guess, this is much to his disadvantage since all they seem willing to teach him are skills pertinent to a life of crime.  But problems arise when Hwayi and the criminals  apparently break into the home of the boy’s birthparents. When Hwayi realizes what the criminals have forced him do, he begins to exact his revenge on them.

My most favorite korean movie! I did not even realize that it is actually a 2 hours movie! I was so into watching it. Plus, I really like Jingoo anyway, he is a very good actor. I highly recommend for you guys to watch this, it was really, really great. A story of a young boy living with 5 men, who he called, dad(s), kidnapped him for money, but surprisingly he was treated as their son. I really like their relationships, but when Hway started joining his dads, he started murdering people and found out about the truth. You would be shock about the plot twist. Yes, obviously it is an action movie! Trust me, you really need to check this out.

A Hard Day

Summary: After trying to cover up a car accident that left a man dead, a crooked homicide detective is stalked by a mysterious man claiming to have witnessed the event.

I remember watching this with my dad right after my freedom! And we watched it when it was late at night and I tried so hard to control my screams. He really really liked this movie, seriously. We laughed at certain parts because there was too much plot twists! This movie got me squirming on the bed and kicking my legs in the air because it actually got me nervous as hell. I actually held my breathe watching this movie, no kidding. If you are looking for a really intense, and an action movie, watch this!

The Maze Runner

Summary: A boy wakes up in an elevator with no recollection of his name, where he comes from, or where he is. As he emerges from the earth, he finds himself in a community of boys, living in a glade. As the boy slowly starts unearthing memories, such as his name, Thomas, he also finds out more sinister things from the other boys about the place he's landed. The boys are held prisoners within the centre of a gigantic maze, and for three years they've been looking for a way out. And now it's up to Thomas to find that way. But the road isn't going to be easy, as any who dares enter the maze finds himself hunted by the Grievers.

I checked out this movie today! I just finished watching it and hell, I still can't get over it. I don't know why didn't I even bother watching it when everyone was talking about this movie. I really think that I have wasted my time not watching it. I really like Newt, he looks like Jack from the Magcon boys? You can say that I was a mess whenever he came upon the screen. I really like this movie, it gave me the exact feeling when i watched Hansel and Gretel because of the forest maybe? You guys really need to check this out!

The Flu

Summary: The worst epidemic ever seen is sweeping through Bundang, the suburb of Seoul. After smuggling illegal immigrants into the country, Byung-woo dies from an unknown virus. Soon after that, the same symptoms are plaguing scores of residents in Bundang. People are helpless against the airborne disease and the number of infected increases quickly, spreading chaos. As the worst-case scenario precaution, the city of half a million people, just 19 kilometers from Seoul, is about to be sealed off. The government orders a complete shutdown. Meanwhile, infectious disease specialist In-hye and rescue worker Ji-goo go into the closed city to find the blood serum of the index case, a crucial part of developing the vaccine.

Here's another korean movie! For your information, this movie contains a lot of blood but I really, really like this movie. It was a great one! Everyone should watch this, and it was sad too. I teared up watching this. It gave me the same feeling when I watched Resident Evil and World War Z.

Doraemon: Stand By Me

Summary: What will happen to Nobita's life after Doraemon leaves?

I saw a friend talking about it on instagram, so i kind of wanted to give a try? Well, you see, when I watched it, I realized that I have read everything in the comics to be honest. I knew how it would turn out but hell, it is a 3D version, who didn't want to try? As expected, I teared up as well while watching this. It was as sad as the book! I feel sorry for Nobita, feeling so lonely not having Doraemon around. Their friendship is beautiful, seriously.
